ALLANDALE cattle farmer Sean Winks is hoping Boonah police are successful in the hunt for whoever killed two of his animals.
Mr Winks said on April 19 he found one of his heifers with three arrows in its head about 100 metres away from the public road that runs through his property.
"I'm not on social media but a couple of mates posted about it and it ended up inundated with comments from people saying how cruel it was," he said.
"Someone shot three arrows straight into its face.
"I figured whoever did it would have realised that he didn't get away with it but the following Thursday I spotted another calf with a black mark just below its eye.
"I was down in the paddock on the Saturday with hay and I saw the black spot was a little stub, another arrow but he was still alive and walking round.
"I pulled the arrow out with some electricians pliers and the bit that was stuck in his head was longer than the pliers, maybe 200mm.
"I could not believe how much arrow was in his head but it missed the brain and he is fine now.
"I found fresh wheel tracks on the road, wide 4WD type tracks and the police came down and also took the arrow."

Mr Winks said there were also three cows and a bull in the paddock and he did not understand why the heifers were targeted unless the people responsible thought they could take them away to eat.
"They've been bottle fed and hand reared in our yard, they're quiet little things. It was their first time out in the paddock."
"I hope they catch who did it because we don't want this happening to any other poor animals."
