SCENIC Rim MP Jon Krause has called on the state government to stop stalling on the Mount Lindesay Highway congestion busting project.
He said government should be using funding committed by the federal government for a shovel-ready project on the highway north of Jimboomba.
"Stoney Camp Road to Chambers Flat Road will be upgraded to four lanes under main roads plans, but they are waiting for construction funding.
"The federal government has committed $30 million to the Mount Lindesay Highway, but so far it has not been used by the state," he said.
"So why the hold up? Labor should use that federal money, commit some of its own, and get work underway."
Mr Krause said he would like to see more work planned and ready to go along the highway.
He said the loss of jobs due to COVID-19 meant that work on construction projects was more vital than ever, both on maintenance works on all parts of the highway, and major upgrades to keep the economy moving for Logan and Scenic Rim.
Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said the Stoney Camp Road to Chambers Flat Road project was in the design phase and was following the same planning and design process applied to every significant road upgrade across the state.
"Mr Krause knows the process but is playing petty party politics that people hate," he said.
Mr Bailey said three projects were under way on the highway, all of them funded by the state government.
"Another six Mount Lindesay Highway upgrades are being planned or designed and will be in line for construction funding once they progress," he said.
Logan MP Linus Power said Mr Krause's accusations were false.
"The LNP is the one who stalled with this project. Labor has spent 97 times more funding on roads projects in Logan," he said.
"I am fighting every day to get more money for these projects," Mr Linus said.
The Stoney Camp to Chambers Flat Rd project contract to design was awarded in January and design is due to be completed mid-2020.
Mr Linus said there were currently four more projects underway or in planning totaling more than $60 million.
