Records have tumbled as Jimboomba athletes performed well at the South East Queensland Regional Titles over the weekend.
Jimboomba competitors triumphed in tough conditions at the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre. They battled heat and humidity, while downpours sent spectators ducking for cover at Nathan.
Mark Wood broke the 100 metre record with a blistering 11.5 second time to smoke his competitors and book a spot at the State Titles.
Bailey Brettell will defend his state crown after qualifying in multiple events.
Abby Howden and Erin Gallagher will also compete in multiple events after doing well at the regionals.
Georgia Grimsey and Orlando Pharoah are set for the State Titles, along with brothers Jack and Izac Hadley, who have the chance to win multiple events.
Another pair of brothers, Harry and Jack Schultz, will head to the titles and show off their prowess in a number of events.
Siblings Jonas and Alexia Hannam are set for a shot at state glory, along with Daniel McKinnon, Bella Bess, Levi Clare, Taylah Lenz and Hudson Hunt.
The athletes revelled in the pouring rain when they were not competing, diving into the puddles on the field next to the arena.
The all-weather surface track ensured rain did not spell the end of the titles.
The McDonald's State Championships are on from March 13-15 at the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre. It's the last major event on the calendar.
