Jimboomba athletes are vying for places at the state titles when they take to the track at the Queensland Sports and Athletics Centre this weekend.
The club is confident of success when it sends a huge contingent of 80 to Mount Gravatt for the Queensland South East Regional Championships.
Athletes aged between seven and 17 will compete, with the top four from each event qualifying for the state titles, which are on from March 15-17. Jimboomba will send 80 athletes.
Jimboomba carries high hopes for Bailey Brettell. Brettell won a state hurdles title last year and is looking to defend his crown.
Georgia Grimsey is also tipped to do well. She medalled in the under 15s girls 800m and 1500m last year.
About 900 athletes will converge on the centre for the event. There are competitors from Algester, Beenleigh, Balmoral, Browns Plains, Mt Gravatt, Redlands, Sunnybank, Springwood and Wynnum Manly.
Under sevens and eights athletes all receive participation medals.
