Flathead has been in good numbers this week although lures have not accounted for as many fish as bait in areas where the water is discoloured.
Most reports from freshwater anglers have come from steep rocky banks in Somerset and Wivenhoe and midwater schools found with a sounder.
Redclaw catches have improved slightly but no big numbers as yet, we should see numbers improve through February.
Prawn season is here, most of the action has been in the southern Bay and Logan River mouth to the Power Lines and off Nudgee but deeper holes in all rivers are producing bag limits if you're there at the right time.
Recent rains have pushed a lot of debris around so cast with caution, especially in the Logan River.

During the day they have been in the deeper holes but after dark, they move up into the shallows.
Many of the rivers with large catchment areas are flowing chocolate brown, mulloway love these conditions as it pushes mullet and other baitfish out of the estuary systems where mulloway use the discoloured water to ambush prey.
Prime areas are the mouth of rivers and just inside and outside bar entrances.
Look for deep holes and ledges they can herd their target up against.

Best baits have been small pilchards, whitebait and hardiheads rigged on a flight of 1/0 ganged hooks.
The trick for flathead, especially in these conditions, is to keep the bait moving, making it much easier for the flathead to spot rather than a dead bait sitting stationary on the bottom.
On the offshore scene, there's been Spanish mackerel around headlands and rocky outbreak areas and a few spotties on the bait grounds in the shallows.
There are still a few big mulloway on the shallow reefs and dolphinfish around debris, FADs and offshore buoys.
Bottom bashing has been hard work, with just small snapper and mixed reefies reported.
Live baits are fairing a little better.
There have been reports of a few kingfish, amberjack and cobia caught.
