A local politician has labelled updated Waterford-Tamborine Rd designs as common sense changes.
Right turn access into Logan Street has been included in updated designs for an upgrade of the road in Logan Village.
The latest design will preserve access to local businesses via a U-turn lane at the Logan St intersection for southbound vehicles.
The design will complement the right turn lane into Wharf Street, as well as the U-turn lanes at North Street and Anzac Avenue intersections.
"Retaining direct access at Logan Street was an important feature of this upgrade, so I'm glad TMR has listened to the feedback from our community and changed its plans on that particular issue," Logan MP Linus Power said.
"The current design for the four-lane upgrade between Anzac Ave and North St will also provide a specific points for emergency vehicles to access the Logan Village medical centre.
"These are common sense changes to the final design and means we can get on with constructing the upgrade."
Almost 20,000 vehicles use the road each day, and Mr Power said the upgrade was needed to ensure traffic was not interrupted by turning vehicles.
"Some people will take a little time to get used to those changes when they come in next year, but they need to happen if we want to make the road safer and deal with congestion for our growing community," he said.
Mr Power said the upgrade was expected to be completed by mid-2020.
The Waterford-Tamborine Rd upgrade is expected to have supported more than 100 construction jobs.
Mr Power said TMR had committed to further four-lane planning along Waterford-Tamborine Rd, with $700,000 allocated to plan upgrades for Camp Cable Rd to Hotz Rd and Anzac Ave to North St over the next 18 months.
He said the community would have the opportunity to provide feedback to the planning.
