SHOPPERS and people seeking shelter from the storm at Woolworths car park today received a shock when wind gusts managed to pull the shade cloth off its moorings.
Kooralbyn resident Kyle Nicklas said he had driven to the car park to avoid hail damage as the wind picked up and hailstones began to fall about 4.30 this afternoon..
"The wind was shaking everything, the whole frame was shaking and then the shade cloth in the middle ripped off,"he said.
"Then it was a domino effect and the whole thing tore loose.
"Cars were trying to get out, they were driving over it, it was something to see."
The storm created havoc on the roads too, with people posting on Facebook that traffic lights had malfunctioned and cars were gridlocked.
The first storm passed relatively quickly, with conditions easing by about 4.45pm and a second front moving through soon after.
