MORE than a hundred entries were received for the Beaudesert Times and Jimboomba Times competition to win family passes worth $140 each to The Great Moscow Circus.

Six names were drawn at random by Scenic Rim Mayor Greg Christensen, Backroads owner Jo Sellens and Simone Woodeson from the Big Pumpkin.

Beaudesert Times winners were Laura Perkins, Bec Bow and Tanya Bruce.

Jimboomba Times readers who will be going to the circus for free include Kimberly Vanarey, Debbie Connolly and Karen Sharp.

Laura Perkins said her 10-year-old son Patrick had been asking to go to the circus since he saw they were on the Gold Coast.

"When he heard they were coming to Jimboomba he thought, you beauty," Ms Perkins said.

"But I honestly didn't think we'd be able to go.

"This is awesome and really generous of them to provide free tickets."

Circus spokesman Mark Edgley said this would be the first time the Great Moscow Circus had ever been to Jimboomba.

"We will be there for one week and we are really looking forward to it," he said.

"We had sold out shows on the Gold Coast and we are coming with a brand new lineup.

"We change the show every four years and this year we have called it the Extreme Show, BMX, daredevil motorcycle cage riders and the Extreme Wheel of Death."

Mr Edgely said the show also featured circus favourites including trapeze artists, jugglers and circus clowns.

Despite the name, Mr Edgely said performers are not just from Russia, with talent coming from Russia, Ukraine, Brazil, Belarus, Columbia, Switzerland and Greece as well as some from Australia and New Zealand.

Tickets are available online at thegreatmoscowcircus.com.au or by calling 0497 MOSCOW (667 269).
