An auction in support of the McGrath Foundation's Pink Stumps Day has reached the magic Richie Benaud number.
The auction - the winner of which will take their place in the Jimboomba team to play against a celebrity side headed by Scott Bannan - reached $222 this morning.
It's a magic number for many involved in the sport, given the former commentator Benaud's reverence, but Jimboomba president Rodney Teese said he hoped the figure climbed higher.
"We want to raise as much as possible," he said.
The winning bidder will get to play alongside Teese, Joe Plator, Phil Hayes, Ray Philippi, Paul Lorenti, Shannon White and Roxanne Thomson at Glenlogan Park on February 1.
Organisers had hoped to raise $1000 on the day, and have already passed $2500.
"So it's building nicely," Teese said.
It will be the fourth Pink Stumps day in Jimboomba.
To donate to the cause, ring Rodney Teese on 0488 042 302 or Scott Bannan on 0412 337 762.
Entry to the day will be a gold-coin donation.
