A CELEBRITY line up of cricketers will take on the Jimboomba Bushrangers for a Pink Stumps Day clash at Glenlogan Park on February 1.
This year marks the fourth annual Pink Stumps Day for Jimboomba, which is organised to raise funds for the McGrath Foundation to fight breast cancer.
The McGrath Foundation aims to raise money for 120 more McGrath breast cancer nurses to support 19,000 affected Australian families.
Pink Stumps Day Jimboomba organisers Rodney Teese and division nine Logan City Council candidate Scott Bannan both have loved ones who have suffered from cancer.
"My kid's grandmother is going through a mastectomy and her treatment starts next week," Mr Teese said.
Mr Bannan, whose partner was diagnosed with breast cancer in September last year, said
"Anyone who has had their partner, dad, mum or kids go through cancer, particularly (chemotherapy) know you have to get onto it early," he said.
"The more people who come means there will be more awareness."
Gold coin donations will be accepted for entry to the event at 4pm.
There will be rides, food vans, entertainment, and novelty competitions for kids.
At 7pm, the bushrangers will take on a celebrity cricket team with the full line up to be revealed shortly.
There will be eight players per team for the 10 over match and every player will bowl at least one over.
Damien Mealey, who has umpired Sheffield Shield and Big Bash League games, will umpire the game.
Mr Teese said this year's event was expected to garner more interest than previous years.
"Last year we had about 150 people come to the club but we will smash that out of the park this year," he said.
"We have set a $1000 donation target and we will smash that too. We don't want to pick a price and not get there, we would rather pick a price and smash it."
Mr Bannan said he was confident the Jimboomba community would throw their support behind the event.
"Just look at the way the community supported Toni Bale (from Eucalypt Homes) with the bushfire donations," he said.
"The way the community supported that means I know they will back us for this. Community spirit here is massive."
