WOODHILL Rural firefighters woke up to find their station's water supply depleted and driveway damaged in a low act on Thursday morning last week.
Thieves brazenly stole a significant amount of water from the south-west Logan rural fire brigade between Wednesday, December 3 and Thursday December 4 at a time when firefighter resources are being stretched to their limit.
A total of 3000 litres were stolen from the tank which has a capacity of 25000 to 35000 litres after more water was taken 24 hours later.
Woodhill Rural Fire Station second officer Tom Tait said it was disappointing to learn that people were draining firefighter resources at a time it was needed most.
"We are pretty mad and disappointed that they have to go to that point," he said.
"From speaking to different people in the community, they are pretty upset about it as well. It is pretty poor form.
"Being on a main highway, it is pretty gutsy.
"We are out supporting the people near the back of Fernvale at the moment. We have got the trucks on the road every day."
Volunteers were required to travel to Logan to fill their trucks with water following the thefts after working shifts as long as 12 hours.
Mr Tait said last week's incident was the first time water has been reported stolen from the Woodhill station.
Rural firefighter Martin Minahan said it was not yet clear how much it would cost to fix damage caused to the asphalt driveway.
Padlocks have been applied to the Woodhill station's water tank and CCTV footage has been supplied to the Queensland Police Service.
Police investigations are continuing into the matter.
Delivery car stolen
A CAR thief took advantage of a narrow window of opportunity after a pizza delivery driver left his vehicle running while dropping food at a Kingston address.
The incident was reported to police shortly after 8.40pm on Sunday, December 8.
Hours later the stolen Toyota Yaris tracking device was found in an undercover car park at Calamvale.
The vehicle with Queensland registration 394YQF is still outstanding and is one of nine cars reported stolen in Logan over the weekend.
Senior Constable Jenny Wallis said police tracked down three of the stolen vehicles, but there were still six yet to be found.
"Police would like to take this opportunity to remind all vehicle owners to always lock your vehicle," she said.
Thefts were reported in Bahrs Scrub, Marsden, Cornubia and Kingston.
