THREE climate protestors face Cleveland Magistrate's Court today after allegedly blocking a coal train at Wynnum.
The protests started about 9.30am Tuesday and lasted until two men and a woman were taken into custody just before midday.
A statement from Extinction Rebellion, released shortly after the protest began, said two men had climbed onto the coal train which was headed for the Port of Brisbane. The protest was live-streamed on Facebook.
One of the men allegedly said now was the time to act on climate change.
"Communities are already facing the catastrophic effects of climate collapse," he said.
"If we don't take action now, all hopes of passing on a habitable home for future generations will be lost.
"I am scared, I am scared for my future, for the future of my little brothers."
A police spokesperson said six crews had been on scene at the protest.
"Police gave an official move on direction at 10.08am which the protesters refused. A police negotiator arrived on scene around 10.45am," the spokesperson said.
"Police removed the two male protesters from the train as they would not move themselves."
A 23-year-old Bridgeman Downs woman, a 20-year-old Edenville man and a 23-year-old Brandy Hill man will face court in Cleveland today.
All three were charged with interfering and trespassing on a railway, while the two men were also charged with obstructing police.
It comes before Extinction Rebellion supporters are expected to protest at the Go Between Bridge in Brisbane later this month.
