UPDATE 4pm
A HELICOPTER pilot who was battling blazes near Toowoomba received minor injuries after his waterbombing helicopter landed hard in the Pechey State Forest.
QAS senior operations supervisor Mark Hancock said the man was the only one on board the chopper. He was taken to Toowoomba Base Hospital by road after being assessed by paramedics.
Meanwhile in the Scenic Rim, fire and emergency services issued an advice-level alert for a fire in Lamington National Park south of Binna Burra.
The Beenleigh fire was downgraded from watch and act to advice at about 3pm.
QFES warns residents should remain alert and stay informed.
EARLIER
SCENIC Rim and Logan residents are warned that conditions may deteriorate overnight, with firefighters arriving from interstate to help battle blazes.
Incident control centre deputy chief Len Jeavons said conditions this morning had allowed firefighters to do structural protection and strength control in some areas.
"They're currently fighting fires on at least five fronts," he said.
"They've been doing some water bombing around Lower Beechmont to support the ground crew and have contained that fire.
"The fires (near Boonah) are moving a bit more quickly now the wind has picked up.
"At Spicers Peak the fire broke through containment lines this morning so they issued an emergency alert but that fire is now contained.
"There has been no major structural loss."
He said conditions could deteriorate this afternoon and overnight.
Extra firefighters would arrive this afternoon to help local crews, including about 30 crews from the Northern Territory and 20 from Tasmania.
"This will give the local firies a bit of a rest," he said.
"They're holding up reasonably well and they're trying to manage their fatigue."
Waterbombing aircraft and machinery are being used in the area.
As at 2pm on Wednesday, Watch and Act warnings are in place for fires at Barney View and Palen Creek, Mount Alphen, Tarome, Beenleigh and Clumber.
Cunningham Highway is currently closed between Moogerah Road and the top of The Gap and the Mount Lindesay Highway is closed south of Rathdowney.
Mr Jeavons said the road closures were due to smoke, debris and fallen rocks and trees.
Residents should finalise their bushfire plans and advise family and friends of what they will do if they need to evacuate.
They should close windows and doors and people with respiratory medicine should keep it close by.
Motorists should drive with caution.
Mr Jeavons said community members and volunteers were doing all they could to assist evacuees and firefighters.
Allen Stibbe from Salvos at Kalbar said volunteers had been working all night, serving meals at 2am to exhausted firefighters.
"They are serving at least 250 meals per sitting," he said.
A place of refuge for horses has been set up at the Boonah Showgrounds.
