BEAUDESERT-born Hills College graduate and former world number one golf sensation Jason Day has won selection to the International Team for the 2019 President's Cup.
The International team, spearheaded by captain Ernie Els, will challenge the USA side, led by Tiger Woods at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club from December 9 to 15.
Day joins Marc Leishman, Adam Scott and Cameron Scott as the four Australians on the International team, which includes players from Canada, Chile, China, Japan, South Korea, Mexico and South Africa.
The 2019 President's Cup will be contested by Day for the fifth consecutive year.
Day said he would relish the opportunity to go head to head with the high profile Tiger Woods.
"I actually think I would enjoy that thoroughly, especially going down to a place where I've had success at, and then on top of it, playing in front of the home crowd, and against someone that I've respected in the golfing world for a very long time," he said.
International team captain Ernie Els endorsed world number 29 ranked Day for selection.
"He's won 12 times on the PGA tour. He's played in four Presidents Cups. He's going to come down to Australia as a hometown hero," Els said.
"He won twice in 2018. Five top-10s this season, including a fifth at the farmers and a fourth at Pebble Beach, and eighth place at The Players Championship, fifth at the Masters.
"So you know, very solid year, and he brings a lot to the team. He brings leadership to the team," he said.
