RANKIN MP Jim Chalmers has opened nominations for Logan's Local Legends awards.
Mr Chalmers said he had recognised 326 people since the initiative was launched in 2015, including local teachers, sports coaches, driving instructors, disability support workers and cultural leaders.
He had also given awards to volunteers from community organisations like Meals on Wheels, Mission Possible and local sporting clubs.
Awards are given out to people who have gone above and beyond to support the community and are open to people living in the Rankin electorate, which covers Logan and Brisbane's southern suburbs.
"One of my favourite things about our local community is the number of people who are so well-motivated, so selfless with their time, so compassionate and so caring of each other," Mr Chalmers said.
"I like to call these awards our 'celebration of selflessness'."
Mr Chalmers urged locals to nominate people who worked tirelessly to bring out the best in the community.
Nominations close on Friday, December 6 with the ceremony slated for Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at the Diggers Services Club in Logan Central.
