A free training session this month, funded by Logan City Council, aims to dispel the myths around women using weights.
InSports Underwood Gym, at the Logan North Aquatic and Fitness Centre, will host the Women's Strength Training and Technique Session on Friday, November 15.
InSports trainer Tonya Day said the thought of going to the gym to lift weights intimidated many women.
"But it doesn't have to," Ms Day said.
"We want to help increase lifting confidence so women can jump in and give it a go."
The session will cover exercise programming, goal setting, practical tips on technique and nutrition and weight training.
Each participant will receive a free pack of inSports Logan fitness bands.
The session is from 6pm to 7pm at the Logan North Centre, 2 Sports Drive, Underwood.
