FUTUREPROS Tennis Academy members Hunter Thompson and Jenna Potts won awards at the Tennis Gold Coast annual awards night at the Southport Golf Club on October 12.
The awards night has a long standing tradition of awarding the top two point scorers in each age group.
Yarrabilba tennis player Hunter Thompson competed in seven Tennis Gold Coast tournaments this year.
He was named runner up in the under 15 boys division to Logan McGarry who won the series.
Mr Thompson was a finalist in four tournaments and finished second overall against a field of 32 players.
Jenna Potts, from Jimboomba, finished as a finalist in three tournaments and was placed as the number one female open player.
FuturePros Tennis Academy coach AJ Thompson said both athletes worked hard to achieve success.
"Both athletes have worked hard all year training and competing," she said.
"The pair train on the tennis court for over 10 hours every week to develop fitness and mental resilience amongst their their technical and tactical training and development.
The two players also competed as finalists representing the Gold Coast at the Tennis Queensland JDS State Finals in Rockhampton on October 18.
Potts and Thompson are now preparing for the Queensland Teams Carnival on December 14.
Coach Thompson said there would be no break from practice for the two promising players.
"Both athletes have a goal of developing stronger physical fitness to be able to withstand the gruelling hours in the hot and humid conditions required of their bodies in these big tournaments," she said.
