AFTER a grand final appearance in their maiden season, the RSL Beaudesert Borobies 2nd XI started their second season off with a victory over Loganholme Green on Saturday at Everdell Park.
Losing the toss, Beaudesert were sent into the field first and it did not take Michael Fletcher long to remove one of the opposition openers in his second over.
The Borobies did not let up, making sure they consistently broke partnerships and restricted Loganholme from posting a reasonable total.
Jayden Stephan continued his top form from last season with the ball taking 5/12 off just 4 overs.
Andrew Steindl bowled economically with 5/1/7 with Fletcher and Lewis Steindl also claiming a wicket each, restricting Loganholme to being all out for 93 in the 26th over.
In reply Stephan and Steve Larrescy opened the bat and set the foundations with a 59 run partnership before Stephan was caught for 35. Larrescy was unbeaten on 25 and the Borobies cruised past the target score in the 16th over with the loss of just one wicket.
The Borobies 2nd XI play this Saturday at Selwyn Park and will hope for a victory over new team Danger Island while the 1st XI will travel to Logan Village to play their first game of the season.
Victory for Pioneers
Saturday saw the newly-formed Beaudesert Pioneers take to the field for their first game in the Logan Senior Division 2 Competition against Greenbank Gunners.
Pioneers won the toss and elected to bat on a beautifully prepared wicket and outfield.
Keegan O'Donnell and Andrew Hardy opened the batting and had a partnership of 97 before Hardy was dismissed for 28. Max Harkin took the crease and made 39 before being caught.
With opener O'Donnell still batting and Kyle Ralston (1 no) saw the close of innings with O'Donnell whose admirable display of 94 not out took the Pioneers total to 3/201.
After 35 overs, Greenbank were unable to chase the total set by Pioneers, ending with 7/184.
