A MAN has died after being shot in the leg during a home invasion at Gleneagle.
Brittany Court in the Scenic Rise estate was cordoned off after reports of a shooting and hammer attack had police and paramedics rushing to the scene.
Police Inspector Jim Plowman said the attack happened about 6am and left one man dead and another wounded.
"What we had was a 40-year-old man who is in a stable condition after being hit in the head with a hammer," he said.
"A 48-year-old man was shot in the leg and has died of his injury.
"A 13-year-old girl was also in the house at the time, she is the daughter of the man who died."
Inspector Plowman said it was unsure if the girl had witnessed the shooting but she had certainly witnessed the aftermath with paramedics scrambling to try and save her father's life.
"We are looking for a relatively new Holden Commodore ute with no registration plates attached," he said.
"If anyone has seen this vehicle or has dashcam footage that may help, please contact police."
Local cleaners Rebecca and Warren Freemen said they had met the residents of the home.
"We were coming in to do a job this morning and recognised the house as being one we cleaned recently," Ms Freeman said.
"I only ever met the bloke but he seemed like a nice person.
"This is a shame to see, it comes a bit close to home."
