THERE will be no need to travel thousands of miles to Germany for an authentic Oktoberfest experience.
For the first time, Jimboomba Tavern will host an Oktoberfest event on Saturday, October 19, from 12pm to 4pm.
A revamped menu featuring Pretzels, Bratwurst sausages and other German cuisine will be available from October 10 to 19.
German beer, live music and a best dressed competition will be available while kids can enjoy a water slide and face painting.
A mix of Oktoberfest style music and other genres of entertainment are expected to feature.
There will even be a beer belly measuring competition.
Assistant manager Monique Flower said the Oktoberfest event would promote a family friendly atmosphere and a fun day for everyone.
"This is our first (Oktoberfest) so we would like to see where it goes from here," she said.
"It is something different and will be good for the Jimboomba area."
Kylie Scott, from the Jimboomba Tavern, said it was an event local people were excited to attend.
"People are looking forward to not having to travel too far away from our community to enjoy Oktoberfest," she said.
Oktoberfest is well known as the world's largest Volksfestheld annually in Munich, from mid to late September until the first Sunday of October.
