CANCER Council Queensland's Beaudesert branch held a high tea fundraiser on Saturday hosted by the town's beloved cancer survivor Sonia van Gent at Bean To?
The event was well attended and featured live music from local duo Harpnix, a fashion parade presented by local models and showcasing clothing available at Kalico Country on Brisbane Street and a wide variety of tasty treats prepared by Bean To?
Helping with the fundraising efforts was Beaudesert Hospital's own Dr John Britten who set up his portable typewriter outside Bean2 where he wrote poetry on the spot for public donations.
Dr Britten also issued a challenge to Kerry resident Jennifer Sanders, offering $100 for the Cancer Council if she would execute a belly flop into the fountain.
Ms Sanders, though unprepared for a swim in the middle of town, took up the challenge with good humour for a worthy cause.

Cancer Council Beaudesert's secretary Ellen Logan said organisers had been pre-sold well over $1000 worth of raffle tickets in the lead up to the event and collected almost $2200 on the day.
"We are happy with that," she said.
"Our next event will be the Relay for Life and we are hoping for more team members to join that on October 12 in the grounds of Hills International College at Jimboomba.
"Sonya has told us she will be making her popular 'booby biscuits' for our Relay for Life."
