KIND-HEARTED Logan locals, schools and businesses have donated time and resources to firefighters working overtime to combat vicious blazes at the Scenic Rim earlier this month.
While people were asked to stay away from fire-affected areas to keep roads clear for emergency services, Logan residents still found ways to lend a helping hand.
Among them were Parklands Christian College year 10 students, who delivered hampers of water and snacks to Greenbank and Cedar Creek rural fire stations.
The students - who are undertaking a Certificate I in Active Volunteering - also wrote letters of appreciation to thank the volunteer firefighters for their tireless work.
Vocational education facilitator Nikki Muller said firefighters had just come off a 12 hour shift and were very emotional when they were given the hampers.
"They said they didn't stop in the 12 hours and needed food (and) snacks they could carry on them and eat while on the go," she said.
The project was co-ordinated by Mrs Muller along with Andrea Parker and teacher aide Sharon Hollyer.
Little Gems early learning centre in Jimboomba delivered carloads of donations, including children's toys, clothes and canned food to Woodhill Rural Fire Brigade after they were donated by parents and friends.
"We've got nappies, formula, toiletries, just anything that people basically need straight away," centre director Jac Brecknell said.
"It's always been concerning with the fires in the local area, especially with it being so close to home. We noticed that the Woodhill fire department was taking donations from local businesses and we wanted to help out."
Jimboomba Woolworths donated more than 20 slabs of water and Flagstone Fruit and Veg donated fresh produce for exhausted firefighters.
Countless other individuals and businesses also lent a hand, whether by donating time, money, food or vital items for firies or people affected by the blazes.
Last week, when the fires were at their worst, Woodhill Rural Fire Brigade thanked the community who had donated to the brigade and the Canungra fire efforts.
"Your donations make our job assisting the community in these tough times easier," their Facebook post said.
Throughout the fires, Scenic Rim mayor Greg Christensen encouraged residents to donate via givit.org.au.
