LOGAN residents are urged to nominate outstanding sportspeople to be recognised at the region's sporting night of nights, the City of Logan Sports Awards.
The awards, which celebrate the contribution athletes have made to the Logan community's civic pride, have previously been won by Olympians, world champions and hall of famers.
Among the past winners are champion boxer Alex Leipai, former Bronco Corey Parker, Supercars star Chaz Mostert and steeplechaser Genevieve La Caze.
There have also been many of quiet achievers who have been recognised for their efforts on and off the field.
Last year's Sportsperson of the Year winner, decathlete Ashley Moloney, said his award came out of the blue.
"I wasn't expecting to win. I didn't even have a speech prepared when my name was read out," Moloney said.
"I'd encourage anyone to nominate because you never know what might happen."
Moloney won gold at the 2018 World Junior Championships and is preparing for next year's Tokyo Olympics.
Nominations are open for the City of Logan Sports Awards, which will be held at the Logan Metro Sports and Events Centre on Saturday, November 2.
There are 12 categories this year including sportsman and sportswoman of the year, elite athlete with a disability, young sportsman and women (13-18 years), master sportsperson (35+ years), sports official, sports coach, sports team, sports administrator, sports organisation and sports event.
Nominations are open until Monday, September 23.
