GREENBANK State School was a sea of teddy bears, dolls and other toys on Wednesday as students took part in The Big Write.
The initiative - started last year by the school council - saw students receiving a stimulus on Friday, taking it home and chatting with their parents about their ideas.
This year, students put together pieces of writing in a range of genres about what would happen if one of their toys came to life.
After working hard on their writing on Wednesday, they then took their creations home to share with their parents.
To get the creative juices flowing and inspire their passion for writing, they came to school dressed as their favourite toy. Some students' creative ideas included a Lego brick and a toy car, painted with flames.
The Big Write was first held at the school last year, when students wrote about times past in honour of the school's 125th anniversary.
Deputy principal Jacqueline Parker said students had loved engaging their creative sides.
"The students have really loved writing and they haven't wanted to finish," she said.
"They've been full of really creative ideas.
"(The Big Write) is about engaging parents with their students' learning but also about creating a stimulating environment for students to write in."
