THE first day of spring saw competition heating up in the Twenty20 Last Man Standing Series.
The competition returned to Jimboomba on Sunday after ground repairs had moved play to Greenbank for a few weeks.
With just four more weeks of competition before the finals, the battle for the top four spots is seeing teams step up their game.
The first match of the day saw Grip it and Rip it going head to head with the Beauy Bucheurs.
Batting first, the Bucheurs scored four for 145 from 20 overs, with Cameron Turbill making the most impact, scoring 35 from 12 balls.
In reply, Grip it and Rip it scored 146 for two after 17.4 overs, winning the match by six wickets. Standout performers included Tom Jellie, who blasted his way to 50 runs from 20 balls, and man of the match Joshua Graham with 32 from 18 and one for 19 from four overs.
Game Two
THE clash between No Limits and the Jimby Crickets went down to the wire.
No Limits got off to a flying start, with openers Keith Ford and Nick Young taking 53 from 31 and 50 from 30 respectively.
With No Limits finishing with 3 for 163 from 20 overs, it was the Jimby Crickets' turn to bat. Losing only three wickets and with two overs to spare, they made 167 wickets, taking out the win by a narrow margin.
Jimby Crickets skipper Sandro Santo collected the man of the match honours, with 46 from 20 balls and two for 18 from four overs, including a bat-breaking ball to Rhys Burgess.
Game Three
THE final clash of the day saw Hit and Run earning a 36 run victory over opponents Duck Duck Gone.
Batting first, Hit and Run cruised their way to 3-224 thanks in large part to efforts from Hayden Teese who took 54 from 34, Rodney Teese at 52 from 17 and Max Harkin, 50 from 26.
Opponents Duck Duck Gone were only able to score 7-188 from 25 overs, even after man of the match Jason "Slogger" Hart took 72 from 30 balls.
Fixtures will continue until October 6, with finals scheduled for October 13.
