FIVE youth Jimboomba Redbacks teams will be put to the ultimate test as finals ramp up this weekend.
Only the under 16 side missed out on a spot in the finals after a bout of sickness contributed to their defeat against Coorparoo.
All girl teams finished on the top of their season ladders and were named as minor premiers.
Jimboomba Redbacks spokesperson Aurora Hodges said the club had grown to feature 16 teams and more than 330 members this year.
Larni Milne (under 17), Isaac Dawes (under 16), Jayla Hargreaves (under 15) and Owen Maguire (under 14) have been invited to attend the Brisbane Junior AFL Gala Awards on August 26.
The club has enjoyed a quiet week with only the Masters, Seniors, under 14s and under eight teams on the field.
Masters
THE Jimboomba Redbacks and Glasshouse Lions Masters clashed in a spirited Play for Clay day to mark the final home game of the season.
The game was in support of Clayton Dodd, who suffered a serious spinal injury during a rugby league carnival earlier this year.
Clayton was new to AFL and chose to join the Redbacks to hone his skills.
He and his family were at the event to cheer on the Masters in their friendly competition.
Seniors
THE Jimboomba Redbacks seniors failed to get the upper hand against the Park Ridge Pirates.
In a semi-final game, the Redbacks fell short with a final score 24-94.
Having finished second on the season ladder, the Redbacks have a second chance in the finals and will take on the Maroochydore Roos in a preliminary final on Friday night.
If victorious, the Redbacks will have another chance to defeat Park Ridge at Wilston Grange on August 30.
Under 14
THE under 14 Jimboomba Redbacks took on the Wilston Grange Gorillas in a semi-final game on Sunday.
While the Redbacks fought hard, they were not able to catch up to their opponents, who secured an early lead.
The final score was 30-49 in favour of Wilston Grange.
Seth Dickerson was named player of the match.
Under eight
THE Jimboomba Redbacks under eight Red team played their best game of the season against Calamvale over the weekend.
Coach Neale Gunn said everything came together as the side demonstrated outstanding teamwork.
Finion and Kade were named junior players of the match.
