North Pine Dam and Wivenhoe have been the pick of fishing spots for anglers during the past few weeks.
While catches in the freshwater have slowed up recently, those finding the schools with their sounder and dropping jigs have had success.
Flathead has been the stand out species this week in all estuary waters.
Trolling or drifting the edge of sandbanks and the main channels have turned up good catches although we are at the start of the breeding season and many fish caught have been oversize and released.
Summer whiting catches are steadily improving as water temperatures increase, especially in the upper reaches of most rivers and creeks.
Top spots at Jumpinpin this week were the banks behind Short, Tabby and the western side of Kangaroo Islands and in Tiger Mullet Channel.
In the Broadwater, most of the fish are coming from the Nerang River, canals and marinas flowing into the western Broadwater and both arms of the Coomera River.
We're also seeing an increase in whiting numbers further north in Tingalpa Creek, Caboolture and Pine rivers and Pumicestone Passage.
Mulloway continues to be worth targeting, many smaller fish have fallen to lures, however, using live bait will increase the chances of a big one.
The Seaway is still producing consistently and at Jumpinpin the better quality is coming from Kalinga Bank to the Bar.
Chopper tailor has been a consistent catch in estuary waters although many have been undersize.
Better quality has been caught from South Stradbroke Island and south of the border at Kingscliffe and Pottsville.
It has been a similar story in Moreton Bay, with schools hanging around the mouth of the Brisbane River, Rous Channel and Mud Island, especially at daylight and dusk.
Land-based anglers have also been having a lot of fun late in the afternoons around the mouth of Raby Bay and off the rock walls at Manly throwing small chrome lures or unweighted whitebait and pilchards for them.
Offshore fishing has produced a feed of pan size snapper, pearl perch, tuskfish and a mixed bag of other reef fish on paternoster rigs on the bottom.
