BEAUDESERT and District Community Arts Projects has announced that the popular Scenic Rim festival Arts in the Olives will be returning this year.
BADCAP president Christine Grimmett said everyone was invited to join them when Arts in the Olives moved from Lost World Valley to Kooralbyn Valley for the Arts Ablaze Festival and Celebration in October.
"Many considered Arts in the Olives was the Scenic Rim's best arts festival during its 10 year lifespan at Worendo Grove," she said.
"It was developed originally to fund BADCAP's first major event - its International Sculpture Symposium in 2008 but its overwhelming popularity lead it to becoming an annual event."
Ms Grimmett said the new incarnation at the Ramada Hotel Kooralbyn would see similar colourful market stalls where artisans would be selling their merchandise alongside a variety of workshops.
She said workshops would include silversmithing, didgeridoo making, bamboo flute making, blacksmithing, gourdart, basketry, shibori, stone carving, eco-dyeing, aboriginal art and puppetmaking.
"Some are half-day, some full-day and others will run for two days," she said.
"Workshop prices are $50 per half day with some incurring material costs but the children's workshops, which were always very popular at Arts in the Olives, are free - apart from a small material cost for some."
Ms Grimmett said children and their parents could join the Junk Orchestra and make lots of noise or sit quietly and enjoy creating toys, basketry animals and flower garlands or simply painting messages on rocks.
"Market stallholders are still being sought so if you're an artisan, a crafter, a maker, a tinkerer or a local grower/producer who would like to be part of the Arts Ablaze Festival, you're invited to click the Arts Ablaze tab badcap.org to submit your expression of interest.
