THE Jimboomba Redbacks under 16 team is on the verge of advancing to the finals after a stunning victory against third-placed Morningside on Sunday.
Team manager Bernard Gaynor said the boys took to the field, knowing a loss would likely knock them out of contention for the finals.
"A loss would have left the Redbacks' finals fate resting on the result of other matches, but now the under 16s can guarantee a finals spot if they beat last-placed Coorparoo on Friday night," he said.
"If the Jimboomba Redbacks make the final it will be an historic result for the growing club."
The Redbacks scored three goals in the opening moments of the game with midfield dominance leaving morningside goalless in the first quarter.
Morningside fired back in the second wuarter and cut the Redbacks' 23-point lead to 15.
Both teams were evenly matched in the third quarter and the Redbacks sealed their win with five goals in the last quarter.
Matt Gilham, Sam Windsor and Alex Bazzabo were the best scorers while Connor Kihlstrom-Ballin and Rhys Fraser kicked the final goals.
Isaac Dawes was strong in the midfield and achieved 32 disposals.
He was supported by Cooper Aves, Hutton Cross, Sam Windsor and Fletcher Pearce.
Cameron Doyle celebrated his 100th game with 12 kicks, three hand passes, four marks and three tackles.
Sam Windsor was awarded the player of the match medal.
The Redbacks won 81-40.
Seniors
THE Jimboomba Redbacks Seniors have finished their regular season with a seven-game winning steak.
Yeronga-South Brisbane went down to the Redbacks 36-72 on Friday night.
The Redbacks will face Maroochydore on Friday, August 9 in a qualifying final.
Jimboomba have finished in second place in the regular season, tied on points with the Park Ridge Pirates.
Under 15
THE under 15 Jimboomba Redbacks girls were in top form against Aspley over the weekend.
Players experimented with new field positions and played outside their comfort zone.
Goals were scored by Avalon Pearce, Mariska Dawes, Jayla Hargreaves, Chelsea Bidgood, Caitlin Jordan, Grace Parkinson, Chelsea Reilly and Teagan Dare.
The Redbacks scored a dominant 111 points against a scoreless opposition.
Shontae Iafeta was named as player of the match.
Assistant coach Fred Meddings said the result was a pleasing sign ahead of the finals campaign.
Under 14
THE under 14 Jimboomba Redbacks comprehensively defeated Narangba over the weekend.
Jimboomba cruised to a 15-point lead in the first quarter and continued to score freely throughout the rest of the game.
Team manager Shelli Dickerson said the Redbacks' show of guts and effort was amazing.
"The boys gave their all and came away with a win," she said.
Michael Pope scored three goals, Declan Streeter scored two and Billy O'Neil, Owen Maguire and Elijah McDermott scored one.
The Redbacks won 70-12.
Under 12
THE under 12 Jimboomba Redbacks have cemented their place at the top of the season ladder after defeating Moggill.
Both sides scored slowly in the first quarter as the Redbacks led 8-3.
The Redbacks picked up the pace as the game progressed to put 39 points on the board while Moggill trailed on four points.
Captain Jarrett Wilson played his 100th game and had a significant impact on the ground.
Corey Young was named player of the week due to his growing confidence on the field.
Under 13
The under 13 Jimboomba Redbacks girls maintained their season lead with a convincing win against Kenmore Gold.
After a nervous start, the girls picked up momentum and dominated the final three quarters of the game.
Peta Saylor-Smithy was named player of the match.
Jimboomba won 100-14
