CASH strapped families in Logan will have more opportunities to get their kids into sport when the round one of the FairPlay voucher program opens on July 31.
Vouchers can be used to cover membership, registration and participation fees for sporting clubs up to $150.
It does not cover equipment or uniforms.
Logan MP Linus Power said the initiative would evolve into a nation-wide $500 FairPlay+ voucher program when round two opens in January next year.
"After more than 1600 vouchers were claimed locally in the last round, we're increasing our investment to encourage young Queenslanders to get active," Mr Power said.
"Groups like the Logan Village Falcons, Park Ridge Panthers, Jimboomba Redbacks and Greenbank Scouts do great work in our community and these vouchers will not only support our young participants but their support networks including coaches, administrators and volunteers too.
"Through Activate! Queensland we want to ensure that physical activity, sport and active recreation is available to everyone even if their family is going through a tough time financially."
