HILLS Golf Club Academy champion Zubair Firdaus finished in the top 10 at the 2019 Queensland Boys Amateur Championship at Carbrook Golf Club over the school holidays.
The Malaysian born Jimboomba high school student attempted to defend his title after winning the championship last year.
Teeing off against 111 competitors, Firdaus finished in eight place with a score of 296 in the four round tournament from July 2 to July 5.
Concord Golf Club player Corey Lamb won the championship with 278 points followed by Blaike Perkins from Bargara Golf Course on 283 points and Harrison Crowe from Saint Michaels Golf Club with 284 points.
Firdaus has proven his skill on the golf course in Australia and overseas.
He emerged victorious at the Asia Pacific Junior Amateur Championship earlier this and and won the under 18 Himbara World Junior Golf Championship in 2018.
Firdaus' current World Amateur Golf Ranking is 1603 while his best ranking was 1039.
The 2019 Queensland Amateur Boys Championship was a qualifier event for the Isuzu Queensland Open.
