JIMBOOMBA Police are calling on motorists to be wary of when U-turns can be legally performed.
Senior Sergeant Peter Waugh said drivers completing U-turns contrary to no U-turn signs could expect to be fined $104 on the spot or a minimum of $133.45 if taken to court.
Drivers are only permitted to do a U-turn at an intersection with traffic lights if a U-turn permitted sign is displayed.
U-turns are permitted on intersections without traffic lights unless a no U-turn sign is displayed.
Motorists must start their U-turn as close as possible to the median strip or in any other case left of the centre of the road.
U-turn regulations are outlined in part four of the Transport Operations (Road Use Management - Road Rules) Regulation 2009.
Senior Sergeant Waugh said Jimboomba Times readers were welcome to submit questions relating to road rules in the lead up to Queensland's Road Safety Week in late August.
