AN ELITE Greenbank roller skater is hopeful of achieving a podium position at the upcoming Australian Artistic Roller Skating Championships at Mount Warren Park, starting on June 30.
Inspirations Artistic Skating club member Isabelle Podlich, 14, secured her spot in the nationals to represent Queensland following her success at the State Artistic Roller Skating Championships last month.
Podlich won a gold medal for under 15 Cadet Ladies freeskating and achieved silver for the Cadet Ladies figures category.
She prevailed against some of the best junior artistic skaters from clubs in Brisbane and as far north as Townsville.
Podlich told the Jimboomba Times her dream was to finish in the top three to qualify for the Oceania Championships at Melbourne in October.
"I have set myself a bunch of goals and I want to achieve them with the support of all the people who have helped me to make it more fun," she said.
"Hopefully, I will be skating in 10 years time and coaching and competing as well."
The Parklands Christian College student has been involved in artistic skating for the past seven years.
She has competed in six state and national championships taking her to parts of Australia including Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth.
Isabelle's mother and Inspirations Artistic Skating president Viki Podlich said hard work and determination were paying off.
"Isabelle has worked so hard this year for these amazing results," she said.
"The Oceania competition is held in Australia and New Zealand alternately each year and Isabelle has been training hard for an Australian tracksuit."
The National Artistic Roller Skating Championships conclude on July 7 at the Mount Warren Park Indoor Sports Centre.
