A CEDAR Vale man is seeking to reunite with up to 12,500 scattered "little brothers" who came to Australia under a youth migration program.
Stuart Gearey migrated to Australia in 1957 through the Big Brother Movement program, established in 1925 by Australian politician Richard Linton.
The Big Brother Movement program specifically targeted British youth aged 16 to 18 for immigration into Australia to address labour shortages in mostly rural parts of Australia.
Mr Gearsey said he first started work on a farm in Liverpool in NSW before eventually moving to Queensland.
"We are scattered all across Australia," he said.
"Some of the little brothers had a tough time and weren't cut out for it in the sticks... they couldn't cope but I coped and enjoyed it because I liked adventure."
The Big Brother Movement is organizing a reunion in the Gold Coast on August 27 for people to share their experiences and stories over lunch.

Mr Gearsey spoke at the 2018 reunion and said it was interesting to network with people and learn about their early years in Australia
"There are a million stories and that is what the reunion is all about sharing what was your experience and what was my experience," he said.
The Big Brother Movement sponsored British youth migration to Australia until 1982.
