A TEENAGE netball player from Buccan has been named in Australia's under 19 squad.
Sarah Bristol, 18, told the Jimboomba Times she was excited to be named in the squad following a national tournament at the Gold Coast in early May.
"I've been working towards it for years...it was pretty surprising that I even got named in the squad, even though we don't go away this year," she said.
"Over the last three years I've played for the Queensland under 16 team in 2017 and in 2018 I made the under 19s.
"My family were very excited. Gran and pop were super surprised."
Bristol was one of the captains in the Queensland side which defeated NSW by two points in the grand final at the tournament in May.
She traditionally plays in the goal attack position and is a calm, fit and fast team member.
Bristol said she first started playing Netball when she was five-years-old and has continued to thrive in the sport.
"I just love playing with a team...it brings me joy and happiness to play," she said.
The Australian squad will be playing overseas in 2020 and Bristol is hopeful of retaining her place in the side.
