YARRABILBA has been chosen as a trial community to benefit from innovative technology in an attempt to save money and reduce energy consumption and waste.
This comes after Logan City Council joined a stakeholder group Circular Economy Lab which will trial service-based business models to reduce energy use and promote behavioural change.
The circular economy concept is about minimsing waste and re-using sustainable resources.
Organisations involved with the project include Lendlease, RACQ, Fisher and Paykel, Access Community Services and Movus.
Logan's innovation hub Substation 33 is also involved in the project.
A Logan City Council spokesperson said an innovative approach would be taken to improve the local environment.
"It is hoped results from the trial will help achieve significant social, economic and environmental benefits, not just for Yarrabilba but the broader community."
Stakeholder workshops are underway to finalise aspects of the trial.
