A LOGAN family has been left heartbroken after their dead grandmother's ashes was stolen during a home robbery.
The robbery unfolded at a Tanah Merah home on Tuesday, May 14, between 12.10pm and 2.45pm while a 22-year-old resident was home in a bedroom with headphones on.
Jewellery and keys were also stolen from the house.
Senior Constable Jenny Wallis said the house door was unlocked at the time of the robbery.
"Police are appealing for the suspect/s to return the ashes. Information in relation to the ashes location can be reported anonymously to Crime Stoppers," she said.
"This property item is irreplaceable and has high sentimental value to the family.
"Police would like to remind all residents to lock up their homes, even when they are there.
"It's common practice for many not to lock up when they're home; but thieves are currently taking advantage of this."
