Obey road rules
Global Road Safety Awareness week (6-12 May) is a timely reminder to obey the road rules and avoid the dangers of distracted or fatigued driving.
Unfortunately, 2019 has already seen 60 deaths as result of accidents on Queensland roads and many of these were preventable.
As a road safety advocate, I often see people's lives catastrophically changed as a result of unsafe and distracted driving.
Before getting behind the wheel, I urge everyone to make road safety their top priority so that you and your loved ones arrive at your destination safely.

Logan council dismissed
Local Government Association of Queensland chief executive Greg Hallam states: "The residents of Logan city now have no local political representation." Greg Hallam, we never had local political representation. We could not even get them to answer a simple email or acknowledge receipt.
The only decision that could be made in light of what has gone on with most councillors and the suspended mayor, is to sack the council and save ratepayers money by not paying them to do nothing.

I'm still waiting for emails to be answered and despite all the "face value" of our local councillor, she was too busy being something else to commit to her community. I've worked side by side with councillors for years in this area and I know what a job well done really means.
The current ones must have had shaking hands when they collected their pay cheques. Then again I guess they didn't really care.

Call me cynical, but the only councils to be sacked as a result of this state government's Operation Belcarra are those with the largest priority development areas in the state. I think there's degrees of corruption in just about every council in Queensland, but we're not seeing the same scrutiny. This state reeks of corruption.
