Bad case
Eddie McGuire, sports commentator and TV mogul, has a bad case of " foot and mouth" disease. Significant others in positions of power, can negatively influence their communities and cultures.
We have an epidemic of bullying in our culture. Eddie thinks he's funny, building up his social currency, commenting on others less fortunate than himself.
He does it around his peers when acting as commentator in sports, or in his broader television roles.
He has retracted the latest jibe at an amputee, who he considered inept at throwing a coin before an AFL match.
Laughing at people less fortunate than himself, his familiar modus operandi, speaks louder about his character than his words. Using his status in the football culture to gain points with his peers, is unconscionable to say the least.
He is a covert bully, with too much freedom and power to do and say what he thinks. His remorse after the fact, cannot undo the damage to his reputation.
In our society, we need moral role models who lead by example. To whom much is given, much is required.
He has let his power and popularity go to his head, at great cost. No-one is invincible and untouchable. Harmful words have a destructive power of their own.

Anzac Day at Jimboomba
Wonderful service today. It would be nice if next year they could start with welcome to country to respect the traditional owners of the land and our indigenous service people.
