Centenary Plains BMX riders look to make mark in final Oxley Cycles Shootout round

Centenary Plains riders Luke Marsh, David Potter, Josh Boyton, Tom McClellan, Shae McCellan, Savannah McCormick and Kenny Easter are in top form and will compete for top place in their class.

Racing is scheduled to start from 10.30am at the Centenary Plains BMX club and BMX South Queensland hosted free event.

Josh Boyton secured his first win at national elite men's level during BMX Australia's Bad Boy National Series at Ipswich West Mioreton BMX Club on April 14.

Acting Logan Mayor Cherie Dalley said the Oxley Cycles Shootout would be a hotly contested event.

"Some of south-east Queensland's top riders will demonstrate how talented they are at this final round of the competition series alongside world, Australian and Queensland title holders," she said.

"We look forward to seeing some top racing take place over the championship weekend."

Riders aged from two to over 70 will compete in categories ranging from mini wheelers to elite riders.

Oxley Cycles Shootout rounds have been hosted at Ipswich, the Bayside, Toowoomba, Ashmore and Hinterland BMX clubs.

Cr Steve Swenson said the revamped Waller Park track recently received $900,000 in funding.

"This event is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the new clubrooms and canteen which opened last October with almost 2000 people expected to attend the championship round," he said.

"It will be great to see the new facilities put to good use by south-east Queensland's BMX clubs."

The project was possible with $575,000 funding from council, $25,000 from Centenary Plains BMX and $300,000 from a Queensland government funded Get Playing Plus grant.

The final round of the Oxley Cycles Shootout will conclude with a prize presentation ceremony.
