A 13-year-old Logan girl with a prosthetic leg has set herself a long-term goal of securing a spot in the Australian Paralympic swimming team heading to Paris in 2024.
Angela Bubb spends five days a week training at the Logan North Aquatic and Fitness Centre with head coach Drew Millar.
She removes her prophetic leg and foot when entering the water.
The year eight Calvary Christian College student was born without her right foot, but will not let that stand in the way of her dreams.
Coach Millar said Angela had what it took to qualify for the Paralympic squad.
Angela's skill was on display last December when she competed in seven Queensland Championship events in the integrated multi-class.
She won five gold medals and one silver.
Angela surpassed four Queensland age records when she raced against Paralympic swimmers in the adult section.
Greenbank swimming champion Mollie O'Callaghan also achieved strong results at the state championships.
Mollie swam personal best times in all of her events and took home three gold medals, one silver medal and two bronze medals.
Angela's next challenge will be to secure more medals at the Australian age championships in Adelaide over Easter.
Angela will contest nine events in the 11 to 14-year-old division in her first Australian championship.
Cr Steve Swenson said he had confidence in Angela's ability.
"Angela put in a wonderful performance at the Queensland championships last year and I know she will once again do the City of Logan proud at the Australian championships," he said.
