A SECOND headspace centre will be created in Logan if Labor wins the federal election.
The headspace facility would cover the Rankin electorate and provide early intervention mental health services to those aged 12 to 25.
The site is expected to cost about $3 million.
Rankin MP Jim Chalmers said while the existing headspace at Meadowbrook did good work, more services were needed for the broader Logan community.
"When a young person is experiencing mental ill health and is attempting to keep help, there is a small window to intervene and help them and their loved ones. For many young people, these services are not easily available," he said.
"By creating a dedicated headspace centre in Rankin, Labor will help ensure that when young people put their hand up, say they are not well and they need help, services are available and accessible."
The announcement comes after Forde MP Bert van Manen announced headspace Meadowbrook would receive $520,000 to extend Individual Placement and Support Trials up to June 30, 2021.
The trials offer job coaching, assistance navigating community support services and Centrelink systems, targeted education and employment opportunities.
Mr Chalmers said Labor invested $200 million to bring the total of headspace centres up to 90 when last in government.
"And now, Labor continues to take action on youth mental health because it is the right thing to do - for our young people, their families and the broader community," he said.
