KEEP your head down. Severe storms are forming across the south-east.
The Weather Bureau has warned that large hail is expected in the storms for residents at Ipswich, Logan and parts of Somerset, Scenic Rim, Lockyer Valley, Sunshine Coast, Brisbane City and Moreton Bay Council areas.
At 12.50pm severe thunderstorms were detected on radar near Gatton, Harrisville and the area west of Toogoolawah.
A bureau spokesperson said the storms were moving east.
They were forecast to affect Laidley, the area south of Esk, the area west of Kilcoy and Linville by 1.25 pm and Kilcoy, Fernvale, southern Lake Wivenhoe and Mount Kilcoy by 1.55 pm.
Damaging winds and large hailstones are likely.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said people should move cars under cover or away from trees.
A more general severe storm warning is current for the south-east and parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett and Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts.
