THE St George Bank is offering footy clubs a share in $100,000 in grassroots grants.
St George has brought together the St George Illawarra Dragons, St George Queensland Reds and GWS GIANTS to launch the inaugural St George Footy Grants program
The program will award up to $100,000 to help remove barriers to participation and encourage clubs and individuals to kick-start their footy journey.
St George Bank retail general manager Ross Miller said the bank was proud to back local footy clubs.
"Launching just in time for the footy season, we are proud to work alongside our football partners, the St George Illawarra Dragons, St George Queensland Reds and GWS GIANTS, to help strengthen grassroots footy," he said.
"...We're looking forward to hearing about those doing great work to help support local footy or that might need a helping hand," he said.
Local footy clubs, amateur players and fans (including family, friends and volunteers) can apply or nominate for a grant that would help benefit their community on or off the field.
Queensland Red's captain Samu Kerevi said his team's roots were tied to local clubs across Queensland.
He said such grants provided essential funding needed by many clubs.
James Graham, St George Illawarra Dragons front-rower, said the club was passionate about helping and inspiring rugby league communities across the region and the grants program was a great way to get involved.
Applications and nominations are open until 5pm on Monday, April 22, and should outline how the grant funds would assist you in playing rugby union or how it would help to support rugby union in your local community.
Nominations are open for Queensland residents over the age of 13 year old who want to put forward an individual or registered local rugby union club that they think would benefit from a grant. Individuals and clubs are also welcome to self-nominate.
