Middle Green Sports is a not-for-profit community sports club, which has been serving the local community from Greenbank since 1973.
General manager David McBey said the club was established when a group of like-minded people came together to form Greenbank Sporting Association.
"[They] started creating a place in the community where friends, families and children could come together and play sport," he said. "At the time they approached Beaudesert Council (Logan Council did not exist at that time) and gained a lease over the Greenbank Recreation Reserve, where the sports of cricket and soccer were first played on dirt pitches.
"Since that time our aim has been to provide a safe and fun environment, while offering a range of different sporting activities for our community. Over the last 40 plus years we have had many different sporting groups use our facilities, with Greenbank Rugby League and Greenbank Touch Football the main current users."
The club employs 17 people, including Mr McBey, who fulfil various roles including a groundskeeper, chefs, as well as senior and junior staff across bar, gaming and restaurant service. The team prides itself on high quality food and service.

"We have a very welcoming team at Middle Green and we are always trying to improve our facility to benefit all our guests," Mr McBey said. "Through providing bar, gaming and restaurant services at Middle Green, we are able to fund the costs of field lights, water, grounds maintenance and electricity to ensure children in our community have a safe and fun environment to participate in sport and make it cost effective for the sports playing out of our facility."
Mr McBey began his association with the club as a member back in 1994, becoming more and more involved over the years in various volunteer and committee roles. He said he has "not looked back" since being offered the position of general manager two years ago.
"During my time involved in the club we have seen many changes including a name change in 2014 to Middle Green Sports," he said. "The committee at the time decided to re-brand the club to ensure its future growth."
Club members enjoy the knowledge they are supporting the local community as well as the club, and also have access to benefits including draws, promotions, birthday cards and discounts.
Middle Green Sports offers its facilities to local schools for use on sports days and for fundraisers and charity events, such as the Ulysses Christmas Toy Run and the upcoming Eats and Beats on May 31.
"The more support we receive the more resources we can give back to our community," Mr McBey said.
