LOGAN Village Fire Station has been equipped with a new truck .
Logan MP Linus Power said the appliance, worth more than $565 000, would help fire crews to service the growing community.
“This truck is fitted with advanced Road Crash Rescue and Recovery equipment that includes energy-efficient lighting, thermal imaging cameras, gas detection units and the life-saving hydraulic cutting tool known as the jaws of life,” Mr Power said.
“This means our personnel will have better visibility and safety at emergency scenes and increase the vehicles operational capabilities.”
Fire and Emergency Services Minister Craig Crawford said the truck was fitted with a 2000 litre capacity water tank and a compressed air foam system .
“This is a new system that can be used to fight a variety of fires and will help our firefighters knock down fires faster than before, while improving their safety as they face difficult and distressing situations," he said.
“This appliance will improve the capacity of our firefighters to attend to incidents and allow them to respond more effectively to vehicle, grass and bushfire threats in the local community.”
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services Deputy Commissioner Mark Roche said Logan Village, Yarrabilba and surrounding communities would benefit from the boost in resources.
“The Logan Village Fire Station has always helped protect our community and with this new appliance they will be able to continue to provide us with the support and assistance the community needs,” Mr Roche said.
“Communities here in the South Eastern Region of Queensland can be reassured that firefighters have the right equipment to provide them with vital services.”
