COUNCILLOR Trevina Schwarz has promised the upcoming Jimboomba Summit will not be a "talk-fest".
Logan City Council will close parts of Cusack Lane from 10am to 10pm on Thursday March 21, to host the consultative event.
Traffic detours will be in place and access to the main shopping centre will be maintained.
Residents from Jimboomba and surrounding suburbs are encouraged to share ideas to shape the future of the area.
Cr Schwarz said as many people as possible should let their voices be heard.
"This isn't a talk-fest. Places like Beenleigh and Springwood have hosted summits and now there are funded projects under way in both those city centres including bike and pedestrian paths, street scaping, public wi-fi and more." she said.
"I know the Jimboomba community is passionate about where we live, so I hope to see a big crowd on the day to help us shape the future of our unique and wonderful region.
Jimboomba mother Sally Brooks said the biggest priority for her would be to see more parking facilities at Jimboomba State School due to the build up of traffic on Honora and Johanna Street during pick-up times
"It gets a bit dangerous for the kids at 3pm," she said.
"I have two year four twins at the school and it is a hassle. It is just not safe with the number of cars lining up.
"It is an accident waiting to happen."
The summit will feature talks from experts and interactive displays outlining the future of Jimboomba.
City Centres Special Committee chair, councillor Jon Raven said Jimboomba had opportunities and challenges due to fast-growing suburbs Yarrabilba and Flagstone nearby.
"Like our other summits (Springwood, Beenleigh, Logan Central, Meadowbrook and Logan Village) this will be a community-led event and their feedback will help us shape Jimboomba's future," he said.
"We'll engage experts and interactive displays to help residents imagine a future Jimboomba."
Food trucks will be on site and there will be activities for children.
The summit will include an afternoon session from 3.30pm to 6pm and an evening session from 6pm to 8pm.
