The Scenic Rim may receive some welcome rain later today.
A system containing isolated showers and thunderstorms currently stretches from north-west of Warwick to Springbrook and it is moving towards the Scenic Rim.
A Bureau of Meteorology spokesman said the line of showers and thunderstorms was moving slowly and there was a possibility it would reach the Scenic Rim but no warning was in place at this stage.
“We might get some rain out of it,” he said.
“There is also some lightning.”
The spokesman said 4.2mm had already fallen at Warwick this afternoon, while Torridon saw 8mm and the Elbow Valley received 5mm.
He said today’s rainfall followed isolated downpours on the Granite Belt yesterday, with a much-needed 32mm recorded at the the Stanthorpe Alert gauge.
He said there had been less storm activity around the Scenic Rim than usual over the last month because the atmosphere had been stable in the upper level.
He said the three factors contributing to the formation of storms were heat, moisture and upper level instability.
“Two out of three is not enough,” he said.
