SANDRA Silver’s decision to adopt a three-year-old shih tzu helped fill a void in her life.
The Crestmead resident searched for her next furry companion after she lost her beloved 14-year-old Shih tzu Max.
Ms Silver knew she had found her new best friend after meeting Dodger at the Logan Animal Management Centre.
“He instantly rolled over on his back wanting me to give him a belly run,” Ms Silver said.
“My favourite thing is that as soon as I sit down, he’s right there with me.
“As soon as I go to bed, he jumps on the bed ready to go to sleep to.”
Casper finds new home
Meanwhile, Marsden resident Danielle Hillard is still working out whether her family decided to adopt Casper or whether the ginger tabby cat chose them.
Ms Hillard and her eight-year-old daughter Claire instantly met Casper inside the gate upon their first visit to the Logan Animal Management Centre.
The connection was instant.
Casper has adjusted to his new life and formed a particularly close bond with Claire.
He follows her around the house and settled on a sleeping spot at the end of Claire’s bed.
When Claire is not home, Casper waits by the window or door until she returns.
A number of cats and dogs continue to await adoption at the Animal Management Centre at 213 Queens Road, Kingston.
The centre is open Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 4.30pm and Saturday 9am to 2pm.
