A 47-year-old man automatically lost his licence for six months after police caught his car speeding 74km/h over the speed limit on the Mount Lindesay Highway.
Springwood Road Policing Unit officers caught the vehicle travelling 154 km/h in the 80km/h zone along the Regents Park section of the highway at 11.50am on Thursday, January 17.
Senior Constable Jenny Wallis said the man was fined $1218 and lost eight demerit points.
Police also caught a male driver travelling 158km/h on the Pacific Motorway near Springwood at 11.55pm on Thursday.
The driver’s registration plates were confiscated and the car was immobilised for seven days due to anti-hoon legislation.
Senior Constable Wallis said police did not enjoy writing speed tickets.
“Officers would rather write no tickets and have a day that doesn’t involve speed related traffic accidents or deaths on the roads,” she said.
“Every kilometre over the speed limit increases the risk to yourself and other road users.
